In addition, the all-day-brunch restaurants, which used to occupy a small part of the dining market for years, also broke ground and became popular day by day. For example, the so called “Traditional America / Tex-Mex restaurant” like Jakes Country Kitchen, Grandma Nitti's Kitchen, Posh, N.Y. Bagels Cafe, The Diner and Evans Burger have all earned a number of customers' support individually in the wake of brunch tendency and hit the jackpot in terms of catering to customers' needs for casual dining on Sunday morning. Last summer, the brunch trend went through the roof and attracted people from every walk of life. The most popular entrees which are front & center on the menu include old-fashioned British Brunch Set, different kinds of Omelette, Pan Cake, French Toast, Egg Benedict ... and so on in these restaurants. There were nearly as many western restaurants with the name AAB~ "authentic America brunch" in town, yet my dear friend, Antonia, hopes that I could introduce some nice places to relish brunch in order to bring her foreign friends (who teach at the National Taiwan Normal University) to eat. Therefore, I decide to nominate these 10 restaurants that have some good meals & agréable atmosphere for everyone to taste.
(1) Neverland Bakery & Restaurant ~ I do enjoy this petite restaurant because of its exoticism & a little bit snobbery in Tien-Mou. Sitting at the delicate Neverland next to the window and tasting Sirloin steak breakfast are really an agréable experience in the morning.
(2) L'idiot ~ This casual but exquisite restaurant has designed 18 fine weekend brunches to choose from, including different kinds of omelettes, the French toast, the blueberry Pancake, the Italian Fritata, the Belgian waffle...and one of my favorite ~the Maryland style Crab Cake Benedict.
(3) Le Gôut de Paris ~ Although the brunch here is only one choice (periodically change), they could still win a thumbs-up from the gourmands. Their former chef, Verge Fabién, learned his culinary skill from a Parisian celebrity chef (Yannick Alleno of Le Meurice), and established a norm for the meal in Le Gôut de Paris .
(4) Mini Second Floor Café ~ Even though the Mini Second Floor Café was opened at the end of 2008 in Nei-Hu High-Tech. Industrial Park where lots of analogous & similiar restaurants were nearby, it's still probably the best brunch restaurant near my office. Mini Second Floor Café provides Chicken or Shrimp Quesadillas, Burrito, Salmon focaccia, etc. These dishes perform rather good, and you can also try its Sloppy Joe, except it's not so genuine.
(5) VVG Table & VVG Bistro ~ Several years ago, the VVG founder's originality set the tone for brunch with Combo-type. Now they provide two “VVG composing style brunch sets” only during weekend in these two restaurants. One thing I'm not too fond with is the environment, both of them are usually too noisy for me.
(6) Wendel's German Bakery & Bistro ~ Dining here (especially sitting outdoors) is really a special experience in town. My favorite choices here are country breakfast & “Wendel's breakfast pan” (roasted potatoes with bacon & onions, gratinated with cheese / wurst / pan-fried eggs, and served in a hot pot).
(7) The Villa Herbs ~ Standing quietly near An-Ho Road & commercial district, the Villa Herbs locates in an unremarkable & a little aged building. However, it's still a beacon & nice place for a pretty weekend brunch.
(8) Piattini e Vini Rialto Cucina Italiana ~ In addition to the Combo-type Rialto Set Brunch, this Trattoria also provides different kinds of Pizza, Spaghetti, Panini, Salad and Grill Ribeye Steak Sandwich for brunch.
(9) Hsiang the Brunch ~ This is another “Combo-type set brunch” provider in town. On the menu we see lots of exotic omelettes, such as Omelet flavored with Herbs de Provence, Mentaiko cheese Omelet, Omelet with Pesto sauce..., as well as the Continental / America Breakfast, Egg Benedict, Bagels, Burgers and the well-known French style & Mexican style Hsiang brunches set, which let Hsiang gain a foothold in Taipei brunch market.
(10) Paul ~ Paul is a well-known French chain Bakery & Salon de Thé on the map. The bread always plays a significant part in breakfast for Parisian. The latest menu of Paul introduces Paillasons Salmon, which contains the flate, baked tomato and fresh vegetable with vinegar sauce, is now beefing up the multiplicity of Paul's breakfast selection.
