知兵之將，民之司命，國家安危之主也。

深諳用兵之道的將領，掌握了人民的性命與國家的安危。

Generals who are well versed in the use of soldiers have mastered the lives of the people and the safety of the country.

將者，智、信、仁、勇、嚴也。

將必須具備五項素質：

一、擁有智慧與謀略。

二、言出必行。

三、珍惜與關懷士兵。

四、有勇氣且果敢能斷。

五、制訂與落實嚴明的軍紀。

Generals must possess five qualities:

1.Have wisdom and strategy.

2.Words must be done.

3.Cherish and care for soldiers.

4.Courageous and decisive.

5.Formulate and implement strict military discipline.

主孰有道？將孰有能？天地孰得？法令孰行？兵眾孰強？士卒孰練？賞罰孰明？吾以此知勝負矣。

兩軍交戰之前，根據下列這些情況，我就可以判斷勝負了：

一、哪一國的君主治國有道？

二、哪一國的將領才能較卓越？

三、哪一國在自然條件(天時、地利)上更佔優勢？

四、哪一國的軍事紀律嚴明而且皆被落實？

五、哪一國的士兵訓練有素而實力堅強？

六、哪一國的賞罰分明？

Before the battle between the two armies, I can judge the outcome based on the following circumstances:

1.Which monarchy is more reasonable to govern the country?

2.Which general can be more outstanding?

3.Which one is more advantageous in terms of natural conditions (time and location)?

4.Which military disciplines are strict and have all been implemented?

5.Which soldier is well-trained and has strong strength?

6.Which country’s rewards and punishments are clear?
