這些年來, 大家都在研究一個名詞〝CPI〞 


For quite some time, 
people have studied a number we come to know as CPI,


 


這個經濟學家口中頻頻出現的專業詞彙, 


It has become an indispensable word 
in economists' vocabulary.





直接與雞蛋掛勾,與我們並不高的收入掛勾。


It's related to simple things like eggs, 
and of course, our not-so-high income. 


 


這個數字一大,就意味著我們得花更多的生活費。 


As the number gets larger, 
it means that living costs too, will become higher.


 


物價一路攀高更是推动了CPI的上漲, 


The rising prices will only push CPI higher,





CPI上漲，生活的成本就不斷提高。


And of course, 
this means living cost become more expensive.


 


昨日一天菜,今日一顆蔥, 錢不值錢了。


Yesterday's food expenditure, can buy an onion today, 
but money is no longer worth anything.


 


但日子還要過,大家都明白這個問題的嚴重性。
But must go on living, 


everyone thinks of this as a serious problem.


 


也許大家都不願意聽到〝〝通貨膨脹〞這個名詞 


Inflation is a word that nobody wants to hear,


 


而CPI指數是一項很重要的判斷通膨的指標, 


CPI number is critical to measure the rate of inflation,


 


即使聽到它一切都還在掌握之中,


It's often claimed that inflation is under control,


 


但如今卻無情地不斷地一直在上漲。  


But prices keep going up.


 


CPI 這個與時俱進的標桿, 


CPI has become a yardstick,


 


即使您的收入追不上它,也要努力地跑贏它。


Even if one's income cannot keep up, 
one must try not to fall behind in this race.
