"Mom, did you know which of the Jonas brothers got engaged?" Madison asked while she was talking on the phone with her buddy Madalyn. "No, I don't know." (or to be more accurate, I don't really care nor do I want to know which brother got engaged.)I was frantically trying to find a Bible verse for Bridgette so I can get on with my next task. "It was Kevin Jonas who got engaged, Mom. I knew it!" Madison said as a matter-of-factly, still on the phone. Can you believe it! Those words are from my FIVE-YEAR-OLD. She not only talks on the phone. And boy, she can talk. One day when I got home from running errands my mom asked me since when did Madison start talking on the phone. "Why?" I asked. "She was on the phone over an hour. AN HOUR. I'm not kidding. You got to stop that!" Grandma was extremely concerned. Not too long ago I nagged on Bridgette for her spending too much time on the phone. She talked(plus sang since at this age they really do not have that much to talk about)for 40 minutes. I thought that was bad. Obviously, her little sister knows no boundaries when it comes to girls talk. So, what is a phone conversation between two 5-year-olds like? (Please note that these are two very social, smart girls who are in tune with the teen pop culture.) Madison: "Hi, Maddie, I'm so glad you called. I was just in my room thinking about you." Madison: "That was hilarious! I got to tell my sister about this."Madison: "Did you watch the new show 'Princess Protection Program'? There was a scene when Demi Lovato slipped on the yogurt and fell backwards? I was laughing soooooooooooo hard!" Madison: Maddie, I got to show you something really cool that I got from the McDonald's. It's a little toy that makes squeaky sound. I'm gonna play it on the phone so you can hear it. Are you ready?" Madison: "Hey, Maddie, guess what I'm wearing today? " I am not making this stuff up. This is my Madison. And she is five-years-old. |
