Tempus fregit, the salubrious March comes again! You know, I was just
five when I first heard the song, at Macao, in transit to HK, from
Shanghai; and I’ve loved it ever since.

I saw some of the flowers during the 10k run on the day before yesterday.

I then hummed the song en route, and it did light me up a lot to finish the run.

Thanks to the song, and I translated it with great pleasure.(See attached)

On the bracing days of March, at hillside, along brook side, blossoming are the azaleas.

O, how beautiful are the flowers, just as pretty as a lassie from countryside.

Last year, the lassie came with her sweetheart to the hill, singing a love yodel together, plucking an azalea and wearing it on her hair.

This year, she walked to the brook. The azaleas came to flowers again as usual.

Alone, lingering in her heart was the thought of her sweetheart in the war.

She then plucked a bright red azalea, pointing it to the faraway battlefield, Saying a prayer silently,

“Sweetheart, may you come back with glorious victory soon. I’ll wear the flower on your bosom, no longer on my hair!”
