5/13/2022 我很久以前在美國買了一本小書,叫「365 HEALTH and HAPPINESS BOOSTERS」。我一直有這本書。有時候會翻翻看看。今天翻到的是5/13的一頁。我用我的手機拍照,然後OCR(Apple手機的免費但有嚇你一跳的廣告)成英文字,下面就是 -
「Go on a Mental Vacation
In a tape on worry, Earl Nightingale claimed we spend
time worrying this way: 40 percent on things that never
happen; 30 percent on things that have already happened
about our health, 10 percent on miscellaneous needless
worries; and only 8 percent on worries that are legitimate.
So much of what I put my daily thoughts and energy
toward are worrying about things that never come to pass.
What if, instead, I thought more like Scarlett OHara in
Gone with the Wind: “TII think about that tomorrow" This
is a great happiness technique when dealing with some-
thing over which you have no control. Wont work forever,
but try going worry-free for today. 」
OCR的結果有點小錯,我改了些;整體來說,比我手抄要省不少事。可能我打英文字也不夠快,所以OCR可能是最佳的選擇。
我其實今天先看到一本電子書 - 「365 Days with Self-Discipline」
Day 133: On Self-Caring (今天5/13, 2022剛好是第133天)
Self-discipline is self-caring. If we feel ourselves valuable, then
we will feel our time to be valuable, to organize it and protect it and make maximum use of it.

The way you look at what self-discipline is can affect how self-disciplined you are. If you think of self-discipline as punishing
yourself in return for some possible benefits in the future, how likely are you going to be eager to maintain it in your life?
Instead, what if you embraced self-discipline as self-caring, a
way of manifesting that your time is valuable to you and that you
want to make the most of it?
Now, instead of seeing every temptation as something pleasant
that you must avoid for the possible future benefit, you’d look at it as a threat to your well-being. For example, upon adopting this outlook on life, you’d understand on a deeper level that watching TV for hours on end is not entertainment; it’s killing your valuable time, and in the case of low-quality TV, killing your brain cells.
And the other way around: things that you currently consider
torturous (such as waking up early, eating vegetables, saving money, expanding your comfort zone, and so on) would all become
manifestations of self-care. You’d understand on a deeper level that
waking up early makes you more productive, and consequently,
這真的和我最近想的很相近 - 總想做點有意義的事。可能不見得做地多好,但是盡了心(力)就感覺不錯了。
