Amazing Capital
Urban Epitaph, Part Six
A train rattles the indifferent shacks
Along the tracks where theyre selling Coca-Cola
By the bag; with ice
Beneath his professional grin
He wonders why Government House
Slaps the hands which tend the rice
He hears a drill force forcing its way
Into provincial resources of rice,
Childrens bodies and unknown rights
He needs neither hammer nor sickle
To harvest the burden of exploitation
He has cleaned his hands; but not his ears
An incantation haunts,
"I am the capital
The Amazing gem
The golden jewel that dazzles you all"
