Where will the Birds Go?
The eye of the day opens long before
Me, still listening to birds from my bed
There is singing that ears cherish
I’m a sleeping ornithologist
The eye of the day winks and tells
Us, it’s time to work, to sweat, to slave
On the other hand,
The earth is merely turning
Need I rise to blink at the sun
To thank it for its reminder
Blood, shot on the silken green earth
And its sundry disasters
This evening
The eye of the day will not gently close
But will fall with the weight
Of a million disposable earths
Into the black
Sea, painted red with fire
