Rural Memories
Urban Epitaph, Part Two
Hes gone astray from his provincial calling
Strolling nonchalantly across Sanam Luang
See the stare on his face and glaze in his eyes
Permanent features
From the final act of industrial utopia
Which crushed the last stone guarding wildflower
He cannot return to green rice fields
That nourished for thousands of years
He has a rural vision; a vision from exile:
A young boy wandering
Searching for fish or rabbits
Tigers or boar
His province is now but a dream
Of lotus, rice
And dignity
A forest falls but no one hears
