Michael Jackson 之所以為 Michael Jackson，絕對不是僅止於皮膚的顏色，鼻樑的高低。

　　他透過音樂，要求每一個人睜開眼睛，拿出良心來面對這些尖銳的議題：種族、人權、自由、和平。在他死後，越能看清他想要表達什麼。

　　有人以為他整型是為了「從眾」，我倒認為，他所有的改變是為了「反諷」。如果沒有那張引人好奇的臉，從「平庸」變成「漂亮」的臉，他需要再花費多少力氣，才能讓他的音樂受到重視。

　　他的輪廓，他的膚色，都只是外表的樣貌，東方的說法叫做「色相」。而他靈魂是黑人，他的音樂語言是黑人，他訴說的是黑人的心情。他要傳達的是：不要執著於外表的色相，外表這麼輕易就能改變，即使從黑人變成白人，都是輕而易舉的事。

　　所以不要再分辨黑人或白人，請專心在音樂的內容上。歌詞裡就說了：「Don't you black or white me」。

　　Michael 為他所屬的這個被壓抑的民族發聲，也讓人們省思過去與未來，好好的想想：所謂的「人類」，到底該怎樣自處與相處。

　　「They Don't Care About Us」有兩個版本，據說「Prison」版是全球禁播，看了就知道為什麼。

　　戰爭、鎮壓、武力威嚇，所謂的國家政府，所謂的執政者，有的窮兵黷武，有的挾民意以自重，掌握著龐大的資源，做出這些「好事」，居然會害怕一支音樂錄影帶的片段。

　　自由，免於恐懼的自由，免於被脅迫的自由，免於被壓抑的自由。真的這麼難嗎？
