Chapter VIII   Paccayasagahavibhāgo(緣之概要)

Yesaṃ saṅkhatadhammānaṃ ye dhammā paccayā yathā

Taṃ vibhāgam ih' edāni pavakkhāmi yathārahaṃ.

I shall now explain here, in a fitting manner, the detailed analysis of the conditioned states, and of those states which are their conditions, and of how (they are related).

The Compendium of Conditionality is twofold:

1. The law of dependent arising, and

2. The law of conditional relations.

Of these, the law of dependent arising is marked by the simple happening of a state dependent on its antecedent state.

The law of conditional relations is discussed with reference to the specific causal efficacy of the conditions. Teachers explain them by mixing both methods.

一、緣起法;
