Retiredbum notes:

To Cai and DPP administration, its seemed an evil chance seldom comes alone since they took the office.  Report said she and several "heavyweights", being as supplicants, went to a temple in Tainan to beg whatever deities for granting safety and happiness to Taiwan.  (I bet what she cared about is how to help her out of the quandaries now.)  Such a political posturing made me think of that famous phrase "不問蒼生問鬼神".  (Well, political superstition is so commonplace in the island, even Ma isnt an exception.)   So I would like to give it a shot to translate the original poem where the phrase comes from.

"賈生"

原作:  李商隱

英譯:   Retiredbum

Emperor summoned able and virtuous exiles to the palace;

Jia Yi was the peerless among the subjects to be interviewed.

Though being so rapt a listener till midnight that the emperor was even absorbed to lean forward,

unfortunately what he interested in were only things of spirits rather than the populace.
