Annual Mid Autumn Festival is coming soon. Today I read a report from local World Journal that a famous Chinese writer called for bid to rectify the adverse trend of a vulgarized Mid Autumn Festival that people are now after in Mainland. The report says that the markets in Mainland is now fraught with weird-flavored, odd-shaped and prohibitive moon cakes which reflect the vulgaization or even insanity of people's attitude against the value of that conventional festival of reminiscence and family reunion. It has been a phenomenon of degradation; furthermore, the expensive moon cakes also act as catalyst for corruption, but it can be easily cracked down in Mainland. Pathetically, it is not that lucky for Taiwan. The festival has already metamorphosed into babecue binge, signifying an irreversibly collective decline. People even protest against government for not opening up more fields for them to have their oral desires fulfilled. They have totally forgtten the warmth and the affinity that all memebers of family sharing slices of moon cakes together, which does really matter. You know, sometimes I may have such a paranoid idea that I hope it is always rainning in the evening of every Mid Autumn Festival so as to quench the fire on grills, as well as the twisted flame within stupid Islanders'. |
