Yesterday my granddaughter corrected me when I indiscreetly mistook napkin for tissue. Of course I know the differeces among those paper products: tissue for hand and face, napkin for dinning table, paper towel for kitchen, and wipe hand for kids and infants. Now average American families all use paper products instead of the traditional ones made of cloth. We have paper products in our place, but except toilet paper we seldom use them. For example, we still use cloth towels in kitchen. You guys, including my daughter, would say the cloth towels may be liable to be contaminated with grease and germs, and may be not good for personal hygiene. Well, when we use the dishwasher averagely twice a week, we would “wash” them in the machine also. I think that will do, why bother using paper towels instead? Paper products are made of trees, a kind of nature resources which are limited in this globe. If likewise 1.4 billion of Chineses start to consume the paper, and fuel, gas, etc without strains like three hundred million Americans are doing, how can global nature resources be sustainable? Are not Chinese people, and others in developing countries, having the right to enjoy better lives someday like Americans are? Of course they are. This is one of the fundamental reasons that America had tried every possible ways to deter China from reviving. However, Americans may rest assured that Chinese people will not scramble for resources like Americans and their ancestors of intrinsic pirates. Why not? Because Chinese people are characteristic farmers, and living a more frugal life than Westerners, comparatively. Dear Americans, you have to believe china’s Peaceful Rising (actually Peaceful Revival) is not only a slogan. But you just don’t believe it, do you? |
