騎驢渺渺入荒陂，

A donkey carried me through a slant wasteland in distance;

想見先生未病時。

just wanted to see if you are still in good competence.

勸我試求三畝宅，

You only told me to find a patch of three Mu to settle down;

從公已覺十年遲。

I should have listened to you ten years ealier in the first place.

PS The poem is reputedly deemed as the response to 北山 written by Wang Anshi.  (Please see my renderings the other day at http://classic-blog.udn.com/kkuo0810/162522751)  You know, Su and Wang were long-time political opponents, but the difference in politics did not inhibit their friendship and appreciation on each others, particularly as years went by.  Well, both of them are real gentlemen.
