I've written several times about some Chinese terms that borrowed from the translation that Japan rendered with Chinese characters duing the period of Meji Restoration.  But I am not aware of that there had been so many borrowings as those gleaned in a list given at following report: http://www.toutiao.com/a6454934973781639693/

We don't have to thank Japan for the borrowed translation because Chinese characters had been part of its language all the time.  Besides after first Sino-Japanese War in 1994, Chinese scholars and intellectuals had a vocacious appetite for acquiring western knowledge within a shortest period of time, so borrowings out of Japanese translation was the quickest way to attain the goal.  Those usages were widely accepted through common pratice in China as time went by. 

Nevertheless, I don't approve of continuing to "import products" from Japan any longer.  Chinese words are so abundant that they can easily coin any new expressions or ideas without much ado.  So dear islanders, as well as Mainlanders, please stop using those terms of Japanese origin, such as "達人", "巨蛋", or even "卡哇伊", etc.  Please don't tell me the theory of language evolution; to some extent, Japanese translation with Chinese characters is kind of linguistic invasion!
