唐‧麥克林（Don McLean）的〈空椅（Empty Chairs）〉被收錄在專輯《美國派（American Pie）》中。雖然這首歌不像同被收在專輯中的〈美國派〉和〈文生（Vincent）〉那麼有名，然而卻能在一次現場演唱中，讓羅莉‧李柏蔓（Lori Lieberman）在1971年感動寫下受歡迎的〈Killing Me Softly〉。

這首歌的曲調清新，將空蕩寂寞的哀傷歌詞，淡化成如清晨初起的無人寂靜。吉他的聲音，常在歌詞唱完後，留下一抹欲勾上悲傷、卻只勾上獨處回憶身影的弦音。在後悔寂寞的背後，卻又加上對愛情體會與釋然放手情思。
