The Rain will be Dust
Buriram Province
The green fields roll past
As they have for a thousand
Years
Faster until people
Destroy
Every sprout of the earth
The children are resting
In the green velvet womb of poverty
Where distribution is a one-way road to the city
A warning from a wiser voice
Whispers but cannot weep,
"What shall we do?"
Among mortal signs
Faceless bureaucrats respond,
"What can we do?"
The earth
Plots
From where the Laughter Comes
Bangkwang Prison, Nonthaburi Province
He laughs in chains because its the only place to laugh
He writes in darkness, as there is no light
His freedom extends as far as the warden allows
While his humanity, sublime, reaches out
To a friend reaching out
Through the stigma of our endless sentence
And the confines of a prison cell
Humour and laughter pale
Yet alight with the slightest touch
The human touch of friend upon friend
