教學評鑑（三）

English title: Teaching evaluations… finally improved...

剛剛上完新課的第一週進度，感覺這學期的學生似乎還不錯，至少從他們問的問題看來，他們不但懂得我上課的內容，還能想到一些實務上的應用、、、不過這些是認真的學生，其他沒有來上課的，就比較難說了。

在此簡短的紀錄一下，會換新課的原因，一部份是因為原本上的舊課程，教學評鑑一直不理想。換了新課之後，上學期的評鑑結果才出來，Academic head 看了之後說，我可能是大學部教 Finance 課程的老師當中，評鑑最好的、、、早知道也許不應該要我換教新課才對。

我知道 Academic head 只是隨口說說，因為要我換課的主要原因，其實是有一位新來的同事，比較適合教我的舊課程 ─ 也就是說她沒有辦法 handle 我要教的新課程。我自從到此任職之後，向來都是救火隊，分配到的課都是人人避之唯恐不及的。這門新課，已經算不是最差的了。

上學期的評鑑，我得了總體印象 4.18 分, 學生最滿意是 5 分, 所以大概是無法再進步了。這學期開始教的新課，希望能夠維持在 3.5 分以上就好了。為此昨天花了一整天修改作業，希望讓題意更加清楚。

其實每一題作業，我都用了 NZ 實際的總體經濟 / 個體公司資料。光是蒐集那些資料，就花了我一週的時間；因為 NZ 是個小國家，很多財經資料都只有即期的，可是我訓練學生，要讓他們能夠上網去印證理論，所以要讓他們用過去的歷史資料，推導出理論的結果，然後和實際的市場數據比較。如果不同，就要他們說明可能的影響因素。

有同事笑我說，幹嘛這麼認真，學生不到半年就會把之前學的完全還給我們。話是沒錯，可是只要他們能夠動手去驗證理論，至少學到分析的方法，對他們未來會有些幫助吧？

總之，希望這門新課能夠順利一些。 J Fingers crossed!

據我所知奧克蘭中區和東區都有排舞社，學得很勤，跳得很瘋，學員華洋兼有，其他區發展如何我就莫宰羊啦！

本地教育強調尊重學生，師生地位平等，在本地當老師肯定比在台灣辛苦。我太太去年剛開始在early childhood centre帶小孩。遇到一些「牛頭」小孩，還真束手無策，又不能施以体罰。

Agree - even more difficult to deal with little children. Mine is actually Ok - they just left the classroom if they were not happy.

Working  60 hours is long.  I used to work long hours including weekend.  Make sure take proper rest. 

I am surprised to hear line dancing is not popular yet in NZ.  I have written an article about the history of line dancing which seems to originate from US.  I put it in my draft box.  Let me dig it out, you may like to read it when you have time. 

You can search youtube and do on your own.

thanks for visiting my blog.  

Congratulation!!! I can tell you are a dedicated teacher.  Dedication takes time and heart.  

Sorry to hear about your injury.  Was it your knee, or your feet?  Zumba can be too aggressive.  I tried it couple of times.  I do not recommend it to everyone.  Why not try line dancing?  It's fun, brain stimulatiing.  I prefer it over all other dances because you do not need two to tango.  

The music I posted in the article was the music for Sexy Cha, a beautiful and sexyline dance with cha cha steps.  I just got off my line dance session now.

Thanks for the suggestion! "Line" is not (yet) popular here in NZ, but will be I think. Besides, now I only have time to exercise at home as working 60 hours a week!

But I will try it once it's popular here. :-)
