So KSCI's Midday Buzz took one of my exclusive stories on World Journal. They took the whole thing, including the photo, and the two hosts read my article word by word...the only thing they forgot was crediting my paper. I don't have a TV at home and learned this from one of the people I interviewed for the story. I have to say it is so very embarrassing! I was with KSCI for 1.5 years. Often when I pitched a story idea, my supervisor would be like, "this is resource consuming...we don't have the money for you to drive there...we don't have the money to pay the videographer..." then she would go on and say, "instead of doing your own story, why don't you go ahead and 'take' one from World Journal? They have plenty of good stories and they have a lot of photos on their website." I thought she was joking. After all, the station was struggling with serious financial problems. I left the station when it went bankruptcy this January. Now I know she's not joking. The station was sold to NRJ-TV this March. With the new management, they are now really "taking" stories from World Journal. Sigh. |
