I am ALL for my niece, Britney, to want to have a $54K wedding in July. First of all, Brit has people to take care of the wedding bills. Most of the extravaganza is taken care of by the bride's mother and step father. Jane is a very well to do business lady in apartment renting business. "She manages 120 apartments in Ann Arbor," said Nonnie, my mother-in-law, "...and her husband is generous to help Jane some of it. He is a Polish. If only Tony (the bride's dad, my brother-in-law) could hang on to this woman (Jane)..." she continued. Nonnie then kinda went on and on about how every child of hers end up with a divorce and could not hang on to the rich and fortunate. How funny she put it that Tony can not hang on to the rich and fortunate. But the problem is that Tony's three children have three different mothers. Does that explain what kind of a good man himself he really is? Jane married to Tony as a second wife and a step mother to litte Victor of 7y/o. "I guess she (Jane) never had a big wedding of her own," said Nonnie, "And she really wants to make it up for her only daughter." A-HA! Well, the lady's only daughter wants a wedding. She's got a wedding. AMEN! I can see why Brit is Jane's pride. Not only that Brit is the only daughter, but the only grandchild among this Italian Brady bunch that went to college, graduated, and has a decent job as an elementary school teacher. Todd, Brit's husband, has a job, too, as a policeman. No wonder Jane would want to give a wedding of this century. Having paid so much time and effort all these years on her only little girl finally paid off. Whereas Tony's two other kids, Victor and Domonique, neither finishes high school, holds a job, or has a steady relationship. Hmm, maybe thats why Jane could not hang on to man like Tony. Its just not how a good woman should end up. "...Its about $150 on every guest they invite," said my father-in-law, Brit's grandfather. Breaking down to cents and pennies is what this little old Italian man's best at. "...they are having 360 guests over (to the wedding). Can you believe it?" he said. 360 guests for all three families from both bride's and groom's, friends and business associates of family's. So what? Bride's mother CAN afford it! What does it concern you, Pop? "...they could have spent 4 grands on a small wedding for only family..." A small wedding? I am totally TURNED OFF by the way a small wedding sounds like when Pop said it. I know exactly what a small wedding he meant -- a wedding at a cheap little wedding chaple, no brides maids, no best men, no limo, no flowers, no wedding pictures by professional photographers, and a reception at a cheap little Italian restaurant, no cake, no open bar, no band or music. Like the small wedding of me and D's you mean, Pop? "...a small wedding for family and save the rest ...." WOOOOW! SAVE THE REST ON WHAT, Pop? On the mortgage of the house they just bought of $225K? Or on the couple of good Italian kids they plan on having? Well, I want you guys to back off of it a little, Pop. This 26 y/o couple is going to use the rest of their life to take on the responsibilities they chose to have. THE REST OF THEIR LIFE! So, I am all for my niece, Britney, to want to have a $54K wedding in July. Which, I suppose, is going to be the next most expensive thing she could possibly spend on HERSELF, next to the mortgage and a couple of good Italian kids. |
