Thanksgiving is within A WEEK. For the last 8 years we spent the day at in-laws. "They LOVE cooking and feeding us," said Hubby. "Its THEIR tradition." YOU GOT THAT RIGHT. A 20lbs turkey, egg potato salad, tomato sauce pasta, and fried chicken drumsticks. If we are lucky, Nonnie will buy Sara Lee's pumpkin pie instead of meijer's. Occasionally she buys apple pie for a change. For 8 years it has become SO VERY predictable. However, for someone who DOES NOT cook, I might as well stay quiet and continue to do the dishes after dinner this year again. Thanksgiving is also the first holiday of the season when all the family members are able to remain civilized to each other. By the time at Christmas or New Year they have to talk crap about certain uncles, aunts, cousins or ex-spouses. HO HO HO. This family DO NOT forgive or forget. This is why I ALWAYS schedule Christmas Day at work. Who wants to be dragged into a war zone at Grandpa's front room and then at later days forced to be taking sides anyway? This year I would like to bring something over that I LIKE TO EAT. So here goes a list.... Kansas City fully cooked sliced ham (or Corky's ribs? Can't quite decide yet.) St Clair 3 tray classic southern side dish -- 4 cheese mac & cheese, twice baked potato casserole and corn souffle. Junior's 4 flavors cheezecake sampler. HMM, YUMMO! ps. 12/3/08 Hubby and I did not go to the in-laws' this year. He got a nasty cold and stayed on his lazy-boy all weekend. As for me, I "took care of him" all weekend. HE HE HE. Been VERY tickled inside!!! |
