（音樂：Carole King - Its Too Late)

1971年，我剛到美國讀書，
那時常常聽到收音機上的音樂，唱著
“And its too late, baby, now its too late...”
就是這首歌，Carole King 的“Its Too Late”。

我們在7月時聽了Carole King 的 “You’ve Got a Friend”
當時對她沒有多加介紹，
Carole King是美國女歌手，也自己寫歌寫曲，
1942年生在美國紐約市的猶太家庭。
她的母親雖然沒有受過正式音樂教育，但是會彈鋼琴，
Carole King從小耳濡目染，而且有完美的音感，
四歲開始，媽媽就教她一些基本的樂理，也學鋼琴。
天資聰穎的她，五歲就上小學二年級。
上高中時，就認識了Paul Simon，
（就是賽門與葛芬柯，Simon & Garfunkel的那個），
兩人一起合作，寫了唱了、灌了一些樣本唱片，

高中畢業後去念Queens College，認識了Gerry Goffin，
1959年兩人結婚，旋即因為Carole King有孕，兩人都輟學。
一邊找個小事養家帶孩子，一邊夫妻檔寫歌，
Gerry Goffin 作詞，Carole King 寫曲子。
這年在高中曾經約會過Carole King的Neil Sedaka，
在1958年寫了一首暢銷歌"Oh! Carol"，就是指的Carole King。
夫妻檔不甘示弱，1960年他們合作寫的
"Will You Love Me Tomorrow"在排行榜上登上后座，
兩人自此專職音樂。雖然兩人後來離異，
但是不影響Carole King的音樂事業，
成為二十世紀後半，美國最成功的女音樂人。
