Retiredum notes:  Subject "秋夜吟", originally adapted from an Irish folk song "Danny Boy", was written by an anonymous lyricist.  The lines of this "秋夜吟" are somewhat different from what I first learned.   Anyway, I translate it here and wish everybody a wonderful Mid-Autumn night of family reunion.

Danny Boy

Lyrics:Fred E.Weatherly

Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summers gone, and all the roses falling
Tis you, tis you must go and I must bide.

But come you back when summers in the meadow
Or all the valleys hushed and white with snow
Tis Ill be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.

But when you come, when all the flowers are dying

If I am dead, as dead I well may be
Then if you bend and tell me that you love me
Ill sleep in peace until you come to me

But come ye back when summers in the meadow
Or all the valleys hushed and white with snow
Tis Ill be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.

Ode To An Autumn Night (Translated by Retiredbum)

The Moon hanging on the night sky,

Her bright beams lighten the earth as a mirror,

Through brisk cloud and breeze in this refreshing Autumn night,

so beautiful, so enticing that makes me remember the

faraway homeland and my mother there.

O, Mother, my dearest Mother.

You love your home, yet you love us even more.

For giving our tomorrows of glorious prospects,

You guide us to the journey we are running to.
