Yesterday afternoon, I visited a supermarket near my daughters, a relatively wealthy residential area. When I finished shopping, I saw two vehicles were coming and parking at either side of mine. Getting out of their luxurious SUVs apiece, two gray-haired but well-dressed old ladies slowly emerged. Then they gave each other mutual support with trembling hands and walked the short distance to the supermarket on their feeble feet. I guess the old ladies are good friends, and they engaged each other to shop together. They may live in decent houses in the town and afford expensive cars. But are they leading an easy and convenient life in their senior days without driving alone? In this regard, I empathize with them because I am nearing 80 and must drive here in the State. Fortunately, I may return to Taiwan for an easier and more convenient life. Good luck, ladies. |
