Dont eat my millets, you big rat, you enormous rat! I gave you my time for many years, yet you did not return the favor. I promise to get rid of you so I can search for the other treasure country. Oh, my treasure country, thats where I belong! Dont eat my wheat, giant rat, you big rat! Years of my service to you were met with no grace from you. I promise to get rid of you so I can find other paradises. Oh, paradise land, my paradise land. That is where I belong! Dont eat my seeds, giant rat, you big rat! I provided you with service for a long time, yet you did not provide me with any comfort. I promise to get rid of you so I can find another happy land. Oh, happy land, my happy land. Who will wail there any longer? PS: Obviously, the ancient poem reflects how the slaves hated their masters, the big rats, and tried to run away from being endlessly exploited. Similar scenes will not only happen in the ancient slave society but also in the ones of middle-aged feudalism and modern capitalism. |
