Report said the president and the premier of Finland declared yesterday that they will give up the policy of neutralization and seek to join NATO.  Such a change overruled its long-standing foreign policy of so-called Finlandization which was set up eighty years ago after it had a war with former Soviet Union.

Though Finlandization is somewhat a humiliating term to describe a pliant nation by the side of bigger and stronger neighbors, it is wise to be not trapped in a dangerous situation by adopting a smart policy: be a shrewd chess player and dont be a pawn on the chessboard.
