After drinking the water of Changsha, and later eating fish in Wuchang,
萬里長江横渡,極目楚天舒。
now I am swimming to traverse Long River which flows thousands of miles, while scanning widely the immense skies over the ancient land of Chu.
不管風吹浪打,勝似閒庭信步,今日得寬餘。
Regardless of blowing wind and patting waves, I swim leisurely like stolling in court, with my pleasant mood of today.
子在川上曰:逝者如斯夫!

PS The time Chairman Mao wrote this verse was around mid 50s when there were only two bridges over Long River: one in Nanjing and this new one in Wuhan. Now there have had over a hundred bridges over the river, and among them there were five alone in Nanjing, not to mention that magnificient Three Gorges Dam as Mao described in the verse. (Mao, as well as CCP, is the genuine follower to Dr Sun Yat-shen.)
