有鸚鵡飛集他山，山中禽輒相愛重，鸚鵡自念，雖樂不可久也。便去，後數月，山中大火，鸚鵡遙見，便入水霑羽飛而灑之，天神言，汝雖有志意，何足云也。對曰：雖知不能救，然嘗僑居是山，禽獸行善，皆為兄弟，不忍見耳，天神嘉感，即為滅火。

A parrot left home to a new perch in other mountain, where the fowls there treated it nicely.  The parrot thought though it had found a happy new life in the new place, still it was not the one for it to stay long anyway, so it departed for home again.  After several months flight, the parrot found from faraway distance that its hometown was in conflagration, so it dipped in water to moisten its feathers as to spray drops onto the flaring fire.  Heaven God beheld and observed, "your thought is good, but your deed will not do any good to put out the fire."  The parrot relied to the God, "I know the drops are useless in saving my hometown, but there are my brothers and I have been brought up there also.  I just cannot bear to see it is going to be burned down like that."  Heaven God inspired and extinguished the fire immeidately.
