Subject term donotes an amusing but deliberate mistake somebody intentionally makes when they use a word which sounds same as or similar to the word they shall have used, but means differently. (In English there is a similar expression of such kind of usage: malapropism.  Malapropism would be a nightmare for translators in interpreting the original meaning of a word and then giving his readers a correct rendering.)

However, rampant use of malapropism is definitely a disaster to our beautiful language: Chinese.  Recently, Peoples Daily tried to "persuade" readers into not using malapropism, at least not excessively:

Since the newspaper is the mouthpiece of CCP, representing the official opinion, so I think China Mainland will soon adopt some measures to rein back such a widespread misuse.  How about in Taiwan?  Well, I guess no one will care about it, simply because the whole island is full of an air of 自自冉冉, actually 隨隨便便.
