Last evening, I heard a TV pundit from KMT pronounce the first word of the subject Chinese idiom as "pian" instead of the correct "bian." In my observation, almost all the politicians in Taiwan commit the same error as that woman legislator. I cannot understand why people are inclined to pronounce "pian yi," meaning cheap or inexpensive, instead of the correct "bian yi," meaning expedient, to express the idiom that denotes doing something with a broader range of latitude. Kindly stop spreading such a mistake, people! |
