| 在1604年1月, 英國詹姆斯國王為翻譯新版聖經, 啟開了一個屬靈上的新頁!在六個翻譯小組中,總共有英格蘭教會的70聖經學者參與。但是他們有一個小組特別負責偽經(Apocrypha)的翻譯。
那什麼是偽經(Apocrypha)呢？ 偽經就是非經典的書籍(Non-Canonical books)。 這些非經典書籍並不包含於原始的新舊約中, 它不是神 親口說的話語, 它也沒有 先知寫下的明證。 當新舊約最後一書啟示錄約在公元95年完成時,偽經還沒有一個出現的影子, 直到三至第五世紀, 才相繼出現。偽經只能算為歷史或福音書之類, 它沒有聖靈的交通與感動交織其間, 它也不是有最高權柄的經文。就像在聖經裡提到的雅煞珥書(The Book of Jasher)同樣。然而非常遺憾的是, 幾個世紀迄今, 仍然還有少數的教派將數篇的偽經包裹在正典的新舊約中。 啟示錄 22:18-19宣告說， “ 我向一切聽見這書上預言的作見證，若有人在這預言上加添甚麼，神必將寫在這書上的災禍加在他身上；這書上的預言，若有人刪去甚麼， 神必從這書上所寫的生命樹和聖城刪去他的分。" (Quote from King James Version 1611, Original preface, The translators to the readers )七十位翻譯者給KJV聖經讀者的信(繼續) Many other things we might give thee warning of (gentle Reader) if wee had not exceeded the measure of a Preface alreadie.
