第三篇：謀攻
Chapter 3：Attack by Stratagem

11. 夫將者，國之輔也。輔周則國必強，輔隙則國必弱。

將領的角色，就是當國君的輔佐之臣。輔佐的計劃越周全國家就會越強盛，如果輔佐的計劃錯誤百出，國家必定會腐敗墮弱。

The role of generals is to assist the ruler in governing their kingdom, the kingdom gets stronger if their work plan is complete in all aspects; however, the kingdom corrupts if their work plan is full of defects.

12. 故君之所以患于軍者三：

君王可能給軍隊帶來的三個隱患是：

Three potential harms that a ruler may bring on his troop are:

13. 不知軍之不可以進而謂之進，不知軍之不可以退而謂之退，是為縻軍。

(1) 不知軍隊不可前進卻貿然命令他們前進，不知軍隊不可撤退卻貿然命令他們撤退，這等於是在遏制軍隊的機動性。

Not knowing it is not the time to advance but still commanding his troop to march forward. Not knowing it is not the time to retreat but still commanding his troop to withdraw. This is simply strangling troop’s mobility.

14. 不知三軍之事，而同三軍之政者，則軍士惑矣。

(2) 不瞭解三軍的背景和戰略運作之事，卻企圖用治理國政的方式去管理軍隊，導致官兵們困惑不已。

Not knowing military’s background and operation strategies yet attempting to govern a troop in the same way as administering a state will make soldiers confused.

15. 不知三軍之權，而同三軍之任，則軍士疑矣。

(3) 不瞭解三軍的組織和權責，卻企圖干涉三軍的使命和決策，必定會使官兵產生疑慮而失去信心。

Not knowing military’s organization and responsibility yet attempting to intervene troop’s mission and decision making will cause soldiers losing confidence.
