Managing - about things. Planning, organizing, directing and controlling Leading - about people. Influencing, explaining, listening, and developing Describe the Leadership Competencies related to frontline management and their relationship to the Core Responsibilities IRS Leadership Competencies A competency is a set of related skills, knowledge, attitudes and behaviors that: Are observable and measurable Correlate with performance on the job Can be improved upon with training and development Frontline Leadership Comptetencies Leadership: Adaptability, Communication Customer Satisfaction: Partnering Employee Satisfaction: Teamwork Business Results: Problem Solving, Technical Credibility EEO: EEO is embedded in every competency Create a goal from one of the Frontline Leadership Competencies to add to your Career Learning Plan (this part will be continued on Wednesday) Home work: Prepare "The Meeting Game": it is designed to explore leadership and communication. The purpose of the meeting is to decide how to replace a supervisor who has just been promoted to another department. I will play as this supervisor, I will also observe the leadership and communication skills demonstrated by one of the other members of the meeting. At the conclusion of the meeting, I will be asked to provide feedback to that person on his/her skills during the meeting. Time required: Meeting: 20 minutes Observation feedback: 2 minutes/each |
