夫天地者，萬物之逆旅。光陰者，百代之過客。而浮生若夢，為歡幾何？古人秉燭夜游，良有以也。況陽春召我以煙景，大塊假我以文章。會桃李之芳園，序天倫之樂事。群季俊秀，皆為惠連；吾人詠歌，獨慚康樂。幽賞未已，高談轉清。開瓊筵以坐花，飛羽觴而醉月。不有佳作，何伸雅懷？如詩不成，罰依金谷酒數。

Oh, The universe is just a temporary lodge for all creatures, whereas  time is just a transient passenger throughout a hundred generations.  Life floats like a dream, so how many happy days can we really enjoy?  It makes sense that our forebears held a lamp at night for fun and games.  Not least, the balmy spring invites us to enjoy its brilliant scenery, and nature provides us with sources of inspiration and material for writing.  So we gather here in this garden full of peach and plum blossoms, chatting with each other over joyous things in a fraternal atmosphere.   All of you are brat packs, masters of poetry and essays; but I am not as good as you are, and I am embarrassed for myself.  There is too much scenic beauty to be seen, but we have a few things left to discuss.  Let us feast with a spread of delicacies and wine amid the flowers, and pass our cups around so as to intoxicate ourselves beneath the moonlight.   But how can we  express ourselves fully with our elegant thoughts without beautiful verses?  In case anyone who cant recite a piece of new poetry, then he is bound by the rule of this garden: to be fined with three drinks in a row.
