孤雁不飲啄， The lone goose neither drinks nor eats,

飛鳴聲念群。brooding over its missing companions.

誰憐一片影， Who will pity for this lonely bird

相失萬重雲？ Who lost in the distant clouds?

 望盡似猶見， It seems it can see others,

哀多如更聞。and others can respond to the echo of its cry.

野鴉無意緒， But the wild geese turn no ear to its wail,

鳴噪自紛紛。 Noisely continue their quacks.
