南岐在秦蜀山谷中，其水甘而不良，凡飲之者輒病癭，故其地之民無一人無癭者。及見外方人至，則群小婦人聚觀而笑之曰：“異哉，人之頸也！焦而不吾類！”外方人曰：“爾壘然凸出於頸者，癭病之也，不求善藥去爾病，反以吾頸為焦耶？”笑者曰：“吾鄉之人皆然，焉用去乎哉！”終莫知其為醜。 

Ｎanqi was located in the mountainous Sichun, where the water was tasted sweet but its quality was bad.

Whoever drinks the water will suffer from neck gall, no exceptions. Whenever there were outsiders came, there must be some kids and women surrrouded the visitors and laughed at them, "These outsiders are so funny. Their necks are so tiny, not like ours." The visitors retorted, "The swollen and bulging neck of yours is a defect of your body. You should find some medice to cure it; on the contrary, you think our necks are abnormal." The mocking guys laughed, "People here are all with the same necks, there is no need of caring about it." 

Finally, no inhibitants realized that their necks were ugly.
