朝辭白帝彩雲間，

Departing at dawn from Baidi where shrouded in rosy cloud.

千里江陵一日還。

Sailing a thousand Li to Jiangling the excursion made in just one day.

兩岸猿聲啼不住，

Crying from either bank the moneys bid adieux to me loud.

輕舟已過萬重山。

Rushing swiftly the sloop has passed mountains along the waterway.

PS  A friend of mine told me the other day that when he recited this famous poem in Hakka tune to his sons and grandchildren in a family reunion at New York, his "audience" all exclaimed with admiration.  Per his request, I translated the poem so as to let his kids understand it easier.
