time這個單詞在英文裡的用法極為廣泛,學生最常搞錯的就是加上介系詞的in time & on time,加上了這二個不同介系詞,其意思大不相同,我們舉個例子來看看:

1. in time: (early enough),表"及時,比預期的時間早"的意思,如:

a.I got home just in time-it's starting to rain. (我剛好及時到家,外面下起雨來了呢!)

b. We arrived at the bus stop in time, so we didn't miss the bus this morning. (今早我們提早到了公車站,所以沒有錯過班車)

2. on time: (at the scheduled time),表"準時,在約定時間點上"的意思,如:

a. It's getting late. You'd better hurry if you want to get to work on time. (天候不早了,如果你要準時上班的話,最好動作快一點)

b. Will our flight be arriving on time? (我們的班機會準時到達嗎?)
