七○年代是一個非常特別的年代，在思想及精神上所產生的革命，甚至也是一種全面的知識和文化的運動。黑人的民權運動、女權運動、性解放、反戰、反教育體制、反家庭結構、……，乃至世界一家的思想、對於宗教心靈的追求、毒品及大麻的開始盛行……，各種偏重精神面上多元的訴求，都在那時萌生茁長。

唱過這首歌的人很多，Peter, Paul & Mary、Joan Baez、The Kingston Trio、Walter Raim、……，他們透過歌唱與實際的行動，狂熱的宣揚反戰的理念，即使備受爭議，甚至遭到逮捕。

在我唸國中的時候（洩露年齡的秘密了呵？），以上那些百家爭鳴所撒下的思想種子，都已經在開花了。我在那時學會了這首歌，一直到現在，腦海裡還常常會閃過這首歌；同時，心裡想的卻是……那些曾經在某個地方看過的大貓、小貓們，已經好久不見了，它們去了哪裡？

我們常會感嘆：有太多曾經令人感動的回憶來不及寫下、害怕對於未來的規劃等不到實踐、遇上太多的虛情假意、無意中錯過了太多的真心誠意情、……，太多的太多讓太少更少。

如果沒人在意花兒或貓兒去了哪裡，我對於自己在各方面近乎質樸、低調的堅持，還要死守嗎？
