炎炎夏日, 艷陽高照, 如果有一些涼風來吹一吹(blow)是件舒服的事情. 最近一個感想, 在英文學習裡面, 大概片語是最難搞懂的. 不像成語, 我沒有辦法去研究片語它的起源去記住它, 如果想用邏輯思維的想法去分析拆解它, 可能也會很辛苦. 由於片語使用性的複雜程度, 一些中英文字典裡面的解釋, 也不見得能夠十足的代表在金融英文裡面的定義. 所以, 只能靠平常的多練習, 多看句子了. 下面提供一些例子和Blow有相關的 – blow off, blow out, 和blow up. 常常會在金融英文裡面看到, 雖然每一個字都是和爆裂, 爆炸有關係, 但是, 其實定義在金融英文裡面是完全不一樣的, 下次各位大德看到的時候, 就麻煩多注意一下了. 台股持續在這一萬一千點激戰, 看樣子是要等除息季節完了以後, 才有明朗走勢. 暑日當頭, 願 諸君 吉祥萬安!!

A: Blow off

我個人是把它翻譯成”末升段的噴出行情”.

中文字典上面的解釋如下:

1. 吹落, 刮走; 打掉, 炸掉

My hat blew off. 我的帽子被吹落。

The wind blew off the mist. 風將霧吹散。

2. 宣泄被壓抑的過剩精力或情感

The children were out in the playground blowing off steam. 那些孩子在操場上玩, 宣泄過剩的精力。

另外在這個網路字典(Investopedia)上面的定義是:

A term in technical analysis that refers to a sharp price increase that comes after a long period of price appreciation, and is followed by a fall in the price. A blowoff is seen as a rallys last breath and is a highly bearish sign.

這個片語是應用在技術分析裡面, 意味著在一長段的價格上揚之後的陡峭上漲, 並且噴出之後會跟隨著價格的下跌. 這所謂的噴出是指一段行情的末升段, 而且是一個高度空頭的訊號.

B: Blow out

我個人是把它解讀為”爆炸性”的成長, 在一些例句中, 大部分是用在公司的營收獲利, 或者漲勢.

這個字在中英文字典裡面是說爆炸, 爆裂, 低價零售的迅速售出, 零件的當機. 它也含有一個”很容易的勝利”(easy victory), 或者是新股承銷的迅速售出的意思.

中文字典上面的解釋如下:

1. 吹熄; (輪胎等)爆裂

Dont blow out the light. 不要熄燈。

The worn tire blew out. 這舊車胎跑氣了。

C: Blow up

坦白說 這個字要在中文裡面找一個相對應, 適當的漢字出來, 其實很不容易. 它和這個俚語(screw up)有點類似, 含有搞砸了, 同時也有失敗, 破滅, 或者灌風, 吹漲一個資產泡沫(to blow up an asset bubble)的意思.

中文字典上面的解釋如下:

1. 爆炸, 炸毀

The barrel of gunpowder blew up with a loud noise. 火藥桶轟然一響而爆炸。

The soliers blew up the bridge with dynamite. 士兵用炸藥炸毀了這座橋。

2. 突然開始且來勢兇猛

A storm is blowing up. 風暴來臨。

A political crisis has blown up over the Presidents latest speech. 總統最近的演說觸發了政治危機。

3. 【口】發脾氣; 勃然大怒

另外在這個網路字典(Investopedia)上面的定義是:

Blow up is a slang term used to describe the complete and abject failure of an individual, corporation, bank, development project, hedge fund, etc.

(Blow up) “搞砸了” 是一個俚語, 用來形容個人, 公司, 銀行, 建設計畫, 以及對沖基金的完全和悲慘的失敗.

每一個市場(泡沫)膨脹之前, 都會有上升的房屋和證券的價格.

C2:
