這幾句英文都很簡單，但如果你說時，是先想到中文，就會講出下面這樣＂Chinese Style＂的句子。文法不一定錯，但很不自然。想一想，怎麼說才道地呢？

1. Mary told me that she is planning to go to abroad. 瑪麗告訴我她正在計畫出國。

2. My wife is very much afraid if I will fail. 我太太非常擔心我是否會失敗。

3. Andy is older than any student in this English class. 在這堂英文課上，安迪比其他學生都年長。

4. The husband asked his wife what does she want. 丈夫問太太她想要什麼。

5. What subject do you like best, history, science or mathematics? 歷史、科學、數學，哪個科目你最喜歡？

Debug Answers

1. Mary told me that she is planning to go abroad.

abroad是副詞，前面不須接介系詞，所以to應該去掉，直接改為go abroad。

2. My wife is very much afraid that I will fail.

be afraid後面應接that子句，而非if/whether子句，例如：I am afraid that I will die.

3. Andy is older than any other student in this English class.

any student in this English class是指英文課中包含Andy在內的所有學生，但用比較級時須去掉自身來比，所以應該再加入other（其他）。

4. The husband asked his wife what she wants.

接在主要句子後面的間接疑問句，字序是「主詞＋動詞」，因此，本句應改為what she wants。

5. Which subject do you like best, history, science or mathematics?

由於選項有侷限性，必須在三個科目中選一個，所以要用which；若是沒有限定，則用what。
