I agree that poor quality of education is one of the major problems that contribute to the ill of the society. There are various reasons that education is not up to what it should be but what is clear is whatever needs to be done to fix the problems can't be achieved, I believe, in a life time. Looking at the situation always reminds me of the saying that you reap what you sow. American prosperity was partially built on the back of the minorities, especially the blacks. Now it is payback time and no end is in sight. There are several studies that revealed an alarming low percentage of graduation from colleges. This is discouraging news for parents/students who after paying what can amount to mortgage for an average house can't even be sure of graduation or worse, employment. The consequence is those who are already ahead will stay ahead, widening the gap between the haves and have-nots. I too agree that ROC should be mindful of the failure of American educational system and not blindly trying to adopt a failed approach.
