第五篇：勢(兵勢)
Chapter 5：Energy

1. 孫子曰：凡治眾如治寡，分數是也。

孫子說：管理大部隊和管理小部隊的原則一樣，只要將大部隊整編成許多小分隊就行了。

Sun Tzu said: The management of a large army is the same principle as the management of small troops, one just needs to divide up it into small groups.

2. 鬥眾如鬥寡，形名是也。

帶領大部隊和小部隊作戰的原則一樣，要靠號令和訊息都很暢通明確的指揮系統。

Leading a large force is like leading a small one in battlefield, it depends on clear and accurate signs and signals from the command system.

3. 三軍之眾，可使必受敵而無敗，奇正是也。

三軍大部隊，在受敵人攻擊時想居於不敗之地，有效的掌握奇(奇兵/奇襲)正(正規軍/正面迎敵)的調度是關鍵。

To ensure the entire army undefeatable when struck by the enemy, effective maneuvers of direct and indirect forces are the key.


4. 兵之所加，如以碫投卵者，虛實是也。

對敵軍之攻擊，要達到以石擊卵的效果，有必要採用避實就虛的策略。

To be like dashing against an egg with a stone when attacking the enemy, the use of strong forces against weak ones is essential.

5. 凡戰者，以正合，以奇勝。

大凡在交戰中，可以先正面迎敵，再以奇兵戰勝對方。

In all battles, direct attacks may first be used, yet indirect raids will be needed to help secure victory.
