6. 將者，智、信、仁、勇、嚴也。

(4) 將：代表指揮官 (將領) 足智多謀、公正信實、仁慈善良，果斷勇猛，治軍嚴明。

(4) Commander: means the commander (general) is intelligent full of stratagems, impartial and trustworthy, benevolent and kind, decisive and courageous, and able to administer strictly.

7. 法者，曲制、官道、主用也。

(5) 法：指組織紀律，權責制定，官兵編制，指揮系統，物資儲存，資源管理。

(5) Law: means organization and discipline, definition of authority and liability, formation of officer rankings, establishment of leadership, preparation of supplies, and management of resources.


8. 凡此五者，將莫不聞，知之者勝，不知之者不勝。

關於這五項規則，指揮官必須仔細去研究才能理解，能全盤理解就會打勝戰，不能理解就會吃敗戰。

Every commander must carefully study and understand these five rules, well knowing these rules will lead to victories, not knowing them will result in being defeated.


9. 故校之以計，而索其情。

而且要認真考察和分析，比較敵我雙方的戰力，以便找到勝負的關鍵。

Besides, one should deliberately survey and analyze, compare the combat power of both sides, and find out the keys to victory or failure.

10. 曰：主孰有道？將孰有能？天地孰得？法令孰行？兵眾孰強？士卒孰練？賞罰孰明？吾以此知勝負矣。

可以用來做比較的特質包括：
　哪個君王擁有最高的道德標準？
　哪位將領擁有最高的智慧和能力？
　哪一方更能獲得天時地利？
　哪一方的法令能更有效的執行？
　誰的軍隊戰力更強大？
　誰的官兵訓練更有素？
　誰的賞罰更明確公平？
透過這些特質的比較，我就可以預測出誰勝誰負!

The following special qualities may be used for comparison:
　Which king holds most moral standard?
　Which commander has most wisdom and ability?
　Which side gets the advantage from heaven and earth?
　On which side is the law most effectively enforced?
　Whose military power is stronger?
　Whose officers and soldiers get better training?
　Whose reward and punishment policy is more unequivocal and just?
By comparing these qualities I can predict who will win or lose!
