2010年12月12日溫哥華冬季奧運開幕典禮上，加拿大流行及鄉村歌曲女歌手K. D. Lang演唱由Leonard Cohen作詞作曲的 "Hallelujah "，由K.D.Lang低沉、富磁性、感情豐富的嗓音唱來，十分動聽。
這首歌Leonard 於1984年收錄在" Various Positions"專輯中，有很多歌手翻唱過，K.D.Lang將它收錄在2004年專輯Hymns of the 49th Parallel中。
Leonard 於 Hallelujah中敘述兩個著名的聖經故事，一個是以色列的大衛王，一個是大力士參孫。
大衛王在屋頂上看見沐浴中的Bathsheba，Bathesheba是Uriah的妻子，Uriah是大衛的37位武士之一，這些武士和大衛肩並肩打下天下，情誼很深。King David誘於Bathsheba的美色，與Bathsheba私通，後因Bathesheba懷孕，David通知Uriah由戰場回家看妻子，希望掩飾。但Uriah遵守軍中戒律，不肯回家。眼看事跡快要敗露，King David 命Uriah帶信給前線指揮Joab，要Uriah到最前線作戰，並故意撤離其他軍隊，造成Uriah 的死亡。David 為了Bathsheba背叛了為他出生入死的袍澤。
沐浴中的Bathsheba是畫家的好題材。
歌詞中第一、二段就是敘述King Divid 為了向上帝懺悔，編曲讚美主。The secret chord that David played 就是指這個曲子，the fourth , the fifth, the minor Fall, the major lift，指音階F,G. 降小調、升大調。(請參考歌詞)
