General Luo Yuan, a PLA researcher, commented the other day that if Japan disagrees China's proposal of "table the dispute on the sovereignty of Diaoyutai", then he suggests and urges that Japan give up the islets "the sooner the better, lest someday the issue should become a hot potato that is intractable to Japan".

Some islanders and some TV pundits believe Japan's navy, under the auspices of U.S., would defeat China's in five minutes if the military confronts between two countries took place.  I'm telling you, guys, a situation like won't happen because Jap dares not to challenge China because he knows, everybody knows, if he does the consequence would be a total destruction to him.  By the time China will have settled an old score with Japan for long pent-up hatred and fury since late 19th century, once for all.   Even China loses a single battle, that won't affect the final scores. 

You may say during Sino-Japanese War, China was a underdog who couldn't defeat Japan without the assistance of alliances, especially from the U.S.; and now Japan is backed by the even stronger U.S., will China stands a chance to win this time?  Besides having more sophisticated weapons and better trained arm forces then, Japan had vast hinterlands of northern and northeastern parts of China and a whole Korea when he waged the war, and China had barely air forces and totally no navy, meaning there were no threats to Japan at all while China had only open lands under attack.  Now time has changed.  Just look at a world map, you will realize that General Lou Yuan is right. 

I've always said that the stablest and safest situation of Asia is to restore a suzerain-vassel relationship of modern edition between China and her neighbors.  You may accuse me of kind of a craze.  Go ahead, but I'm not the only one.  Please consult the similiar opinion given by Martin Jacques in his "When China Rules the World".
