Before and after mid-term election in Taiwan, there has been a catchword prevailing: "Green can, but you can’t.", reflecting a situation in which double-standard, the control of media, and the arrogance of power combined to make such an imbalance between incumbent DPP administration and the opposition, general public as well. People of Taiwan can only make a change against this imbalance with their votes in 2024. Otherwise, people must tolerate the inequality for another four or eight years. Okay, perhaps they don’t need to because China Mainland would not tolerate that long, either. The question is are you ready for such a change, a sea change in kind? Therefore, the struggle between administration and opposition may be just a storm in teapot. The real struggle is the one between America and China. The means America capitalizes to oppress China is just like that of DPP against opposition: the right to speak. America always accuses China of violating international order, human rights, trade regulation, and so on with blatant double standard. That is America can do everything, but China just cant. Now America still controls most of international media, and English is still dominating, while China has no powerful means to counterattack, and Chinese is yet to be an international language. All China can do is to strengthen her power in every field, aggressively but quietly, till the showdown comes. So, dear islanders, don’t complain that “Green can, but you can’t”. The devil is just there, and you must get rid of it on your own right.
