My son and his fiancee will come to visit me us on coming Saturday and stay with us for a week.  My wife and I are now busy preparing ourselves to give them a warm welcome.   

The first thing we had to do was to prepare clean guilts and make them look more cuddly, and that's how we Chinese think good quilts to be.  What'd we do to make it a cuddly quilt?  Obiously, it's not a good idea to dry it by heat in a washing machine.  The best way is to let warm sunshine do the job, as our parents taught us in our younger days in Taiwan when there were relatively enough spaces for people to dry their quilts in the sun.  But not now.  You just can't dry them on the balustrade of your front balcony in your apartment, for that will be definitely a blot on the landscape.

Here in California, almost everyday is a sunny day, then why don't you dry your quilts, sheets, comforters, and clothes in the sun at your back yard.  It will bring the laundry some natural disinfection, and some energy-saving effects as well. 

P.S. Well, not every is able to enjoy such an advantage of sunshine.  People live in condo may have problem finding private spaces to dry their clothes other than in washing machines.
