Tim Duncan hasn't had grey hair yet, but his beard has. At 40, he is not young, not quick, and not nimble any more in NBA basketball courts. Maybe only 0.5 second slower than he used to be, that has made him unable to finish his typical long bank shot, or finish dunk after a simple take and roll, or scramble for a better position for rebounds and tip-ins. Yesterday, Duncan and his San Antonio Spurs were eliminated by much younger Oklahoma City Thunders in round two of west conference playoff. Well, I used to be a fan to Tim Duncan and Spurs. You know, I love to watch tall but agile guys play, and he is the one. He is among one of few players who finish full years in college before joining NBA. (He graduated from a prestigious university: Wake Forest.) He is almost always emotionless on courts, that why he is cordially nicknamed as 石佛 by Chinese fans. I guess he would retire from Spurs, the only club he has played with, before next season. Tim, It's high time that you were to be a Hall-of-Famer now. P.S. This summer, a likewise tall, nimble, skillful player from China will most likely be picked by one of NBA teams. Memorize his name: Zhou Qi(周琦) |
